LS1 Gen III 5.7L V8
The Chevrolet sourced LS1 Generation III 5.7L V8 replaces the Holden 5.0L V8 in the VT Series II. It offers significant
increases in power and torque, more all-round refinement, improved fuel economy and even greater durability and
reliability.
The Gen III features reduced weight due to mostly aluminium construction, reduced friction due to roller camshaft
followers and rocker arms, and single plane engine sealing which provides superior sealing of oil, water and air. The
new coil per cylinder ignition system features eight individual coils with each coil located next to its spark plug
for a concentrated blast of high ignition energy sparked by electronic signals derived from crankshaft and camshaft
position sensors.
